rimfire shoot 2010 april winners

April 3rd was such a beautiful day for the rimfire competition, with sun shining and temperatures reaching the low seventies. However there was the challenge of the wind factor. The wind grew a bit stronger as the day progressed but not to hanper our shooters, they all took it in stride shooting their best under the windy conditions.

We had a State Sponsored Youth Rimfire Shoot immediately after the competition concluded ~ See Photos. This special event was well attended, and fun for all. Instructors were on hand to assist any of the youth who had not shot previously. The children were given instructions on rifle safety as well as how to load and operate the rifle. Instructors showed the children how to begin, starting out slowly but they quickly advancing. Targets were placed at 25 yards to begin with, pushing out to 50 yards at half time. Water balloons were targets for a very short time at the half way mark; the kids quickly picked the balloons off first thing. Through out the shoot for youth, there were metal targets placed appropriatedly that swing and make a nice little dinging sound when hit. These were popular targets for the kids also. We will host one more state sponsored Rimfire Youth shoot following the next competition on May 1st; plan to attend!
